From Lived Experience to Lasting Change (LELC) Advocacy Program

This program is designed for survivors of Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) and Postpartum Psychosis (PPP) who want to transform lived experience into a powerful tool for advocacy.

Using a trauma-informed approach, this program supports you in sharing your story in a way that protects your well-being, honors your healing, and helps drive meaningful change in families, systems, and communities.

This is for you if you:

  • Have lived experience with PMADs and/or PPP.

  • Feel called to advocate, educate, or speak out — but want to do so safely.

  • Want structure and support for telling your story without being re-traumatized.

  • Care about changing outcomes for other mothers and families.

  • Are ready to explore advocacy at your own pace.

You do not need public speaking experience. You only need a willingness to learn what feels right for you.

We will help you:

  • Clarify your advocacy “why” and define your boundaries.

  • Identify the parts of your story that feel safe to share (and what to keep private).

  • Learn grounding strategies before, during, and after sharing.

  • Shape your story for different settings (social media, podcasts, panels, meetings, etc.).

  • Understand how storytelling can support awareness and systems change.

  • Create an advocacy path that is sustainable — not draining.

You choose what advocacy looks like for you.

  • Share stories through Cherished Mom platforms (written, podcast, video)

  • Participate in awareness campaigns like PPP Awareness Day and Is Mom OK?

  • Speak at community events, webinars, or panels

  • Support education efforts in workplaces, hospitals, or parent communities

  • Advocate for better systems, policies, and resources

If you’re ready to explore advocacy in a way that is safe, supported, and sustainable, we’d love to connect.
