Cherished Mom launches its second annual maternal suicide initiative to raise awareness and bring hope to mothers everywhere.
Motherhood is often described as beautiful, transformative, and full of love — and while all of that is true, what we don’t talk about enough is how deeply isolating, overwhelming, and even life-threatening it can be for some mothers.
This month, Cherished Mom is honored to launch the second annual "Is MOM ok?" campaign, a heartfelt movement that shines a light on a crisis too often left in the shadows: maternal suicide.
💔 The Silent Tragedy: Maternal Suicide
Most people don’t know that suicide is one of the leading causes of maternal death in the first year after a baby is born. For some, the quiet suffering behind sleepless nights and forced smiles becomes too heavy to bear. Depression, anxiety, and feelings of inadequacy are common — but left unspoken and untreated, they can turn dangerous.
Mothers aren’t just exhausted. Many are silently screaming for help.
🕊️ The “Is MOM ok?” Campaign
This campaign is more than a question — it’s a lifeline. “Is MOM ok?” invites family, friends, healthcare providers, and communities to pause and truly check in on the emotional well-being of moms. It challenges us to go deeper than surface-level conversations and reminds us that asking the right question could be life-saving.
Throughout the campaign, Cherished Mom will be:
Sharing real stories from mothers who’ve struggled and survived
Educating communities about maternal mental health and suicide prevention
Distributing resources and tools to help people support the moms in their lives
Encouraging everyone to ask: “Is mom really ok?”
🌼 Why This Campaign Matters
Behind every statistic is a mother, a baby, a family. When moms suffer in silence, entire communities feel the impact.
But here's the truth: maternal suicide is preventable. With awareness, support, and access to proper mental health care, moms can get through the darkest moments — and go on to thrive.
This campaign isn’t just raising awareness. It’s saving lives.
💬 What You Can Do
Ask with intention: Don’t just ask “How are you?” Ask, “Are you really ok?” And be prepared to listen.
Share the message: Follow and share Cherished Mom’s posts, resources, and personal stories throughout the campaign.
Support local moms: Whether it’s offering a meal, holding the baby so she can shower, or just sitting with her — small actions make a big difference.
Know the signs: Learn to recognize the symptoms of postpartum depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. Early intervention is key.
Donate or partner: Your support allows Cherished Mom to reach more mothers with education and resources.
💛 Because Every Mom Deserves to Be Cherished
The “Is MOM ok?” campaign is rooted in compassion, community, and courage. It’s a reminder that no mom should walk through postpartum mental health struggles alone — and that we all have a role to play in changing the narrative around maternal mental health.
Join us. Share the message. Ask the question.
And most importantly — check in on a mom today. It might be the conversation that saves her life.
