We are excited to soon launch our much anticipated box program in the next couple months. Just a year ago, our box project was just an idea, and we have worked hard to make it a reality. We have had such a positive response to this idea and are happy to soon bring it to fruition.
Our boxes will be an incentive for moms to complete a series of educational videos surrounding perinatal mental health. We have videos discussing the importance of self-care, signs and symptoms to look for, risk factors, coping skills and resources, and what it may look like when seeking treatment. All of our videos are done by professionals such as psychologists and psychiatrists who are experts in maternal mental health. We not only believe in educating moms, but also caregivers, partners and friends, as it could be life-saving and life-changing.
We also believe in the importance of evidenced-based education and providing top notch information from the best. It’s important for those providing information to be specialists and trained. Our leadership has received appropriated perinatal mental health training and is focused on providing accurate evidenced-based resources. We welcome suggestions of resources you would like created surrounding perinatal mental health.
The easiest way to help us as we get started is to make a tax-deductible donation through our website or contact us if you’d like to send a check. Another way you can help is by visiting our Amazon Wish List and sending us products for our boxes. Our box project is our primary focus and largest budgeted program at this time. We would love to see it expand, but currently our goal is to launch in the Johnson City, TN area with 50 boxes per month and hope to keep costs around $25 per box. We will be able to do this through donations, wholesale pricing, partnerships and cost-sharing.
Currently, we do not have the funding to fulfill 600 boxes for our first year. We have had a lot of interest in our box project, and one of the frequently asked questions is “what’s in the box”. We thought we would answer that here and give several examples of what could be in the box. The boxes at this point will not be uniform and are subject to change depending on what we have on hand when we pack them. The idea is for the boxes to contain 4-6 full size self-care items for moms to indulge in. It’s no secret that moms typically think of themselves last but we want these items to allow for at least 5 minutes of self-care or a moment of enjoyment for them.
Below you will find a list of items that we feel are appropriate for our box program. This list is certainly not an exhaustive list and we welcome any and all donations of new, unused or unopened items.
